Life’s Ambition. Hiding in Plain Sight.

The purpose of my trip to India in 1995 was to experience the culture to maybe be a curator of a museum collection one day or an artist. I never got to be a curator of South Asian Art. Instead I became a creator and curator of MY art. The joke? I didn’t even realize I had achieved my life’s ambition. I just needed to open my eyes. It was under my feet the whole time.
Thanks to my mother. A few days ago while looking for some artwork I created, I found a letter she wrote to me while I was on that very trip to India, witnessing the Ganesh Milk Miracle. In it she described how emotional she and my father were watching the video I sent them, and at my courage to take such an adventure. They loved me and believed in me and I love them. That’s the lesson.
